Fun but icy start to the new year!
Members of the Churubusco Smith Township Fire Department got their feet wet with other area residents at the 20th annual Blue Lake Polar Plunge. Over 30 participants braved the 20-degree temperatures and iced-over lake to start the new year with an icy dip in the lake! The department provided two ice-rescue technicians in the water, two technicians on shore, as well as others providing shore support, making sure that everyone that took the plunge started the new year safely! Happy 2026!!!
